IP PROTECTION

China has taken proactive measures to address the intellectual property (IP) concerns and demands of enterprises, ensuring equal protection for both domestic and foreign innovators, a Chinese IP official said at a press conference on Friday.

Aligning with international rules, providing efficient dispute resolution and establishing regular communication channels are the key tasks China has focused on to assist foreign enterprises in the country, according to Guo Wen, an official with the China National Intellectual Property Administration, which is the country's top IP regulator.

ARTIFICIAL SUN

Forty-eight blanket shield block modules departed from China on Friday, heading to France for the construction of the world's largest experimental tokamak nuclear fusion reactor.

Departing from the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, the components are the first of their kind destined for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project in southern France.

The facility, sometimes referred to as "artificial sun," is being built by China, the European Union, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia and the United States to test the feasibility of fusion as a large-scale and clean source of energy.

MICROPLASTICS

A Chinese team has developed a new strategy to remove those microplastics that adversely affect health.

The study published on Saturday in the journal Science Advances described a new reusable and biodegradable foam that can absorb microplastics in water with an efficiency of up to 99.8 percent in its first use.

The researchers from Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology employed a sustainable fibrous foam made of chitin from squid bone and cellulose from cotton.
